Using the brick rake
Step 1- Grip handle:Hole the brick rake handle parallel to the “beds”(horizontals) of mortar.
Step 2- Apply Pressure:As you begin to move the tool, apply downward pressure to scrape away at the mortar. Try to keep a steady even pressure on the tool as you work.
Step 3- Along beds down perps:Move the tool along the “beds”and down the “perps”.
Step 4- Move side to side:Move the tool from side to side as you go, scraping mortare evenly.
Step 5- Work your way down:You should work on the higher areas first and then work down the wall when removing mortar. This way, once youj have worked on an area it will remain clean.
